Hotel Toriba was inaugurated on January 22, 1943, by Ernesto Diederichsen and Luiz Dumont Villares, when tourism in the region was still incipient, in this beautiful city in one of the high of the Mantiqueira, who at the time was marked much more by the profusion of Sanatoriums than by the infrastructure for the visitor in search of leisure. Soon Toriba, who in Tupi-Guarani means something like "peace, joy and happiness," became a hotel symbol of the best of Campos do Jordão, with well cared for alpine appearance, place conducive to healthy and custom activities in harmony with nature. Toriba is a landmark in the history of tourism and culture of Campos do Jordão.
